Storyline

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important conflict has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that his greatest battle is about to begin. It's great to be Spider-Man. For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro, Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp. Written by Sony Pictures Entertainment

Movie Reviews:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is more of the same from director Marc Webb. It's a good thing that I didn't pay to see it. Because of the film's marketing campaign and the trailers I was, for some time, looking forward to seeing this sequel. But what I saw was almost as bland and unengaging as The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). As was the case with the first film, the trailers for the sequel made it seem much better than it actually is. It's a cheat in a way. One of the three supervillains in the trailers isn't even an important character in the film. All the action scenes in the film were featured in the trailers. Yes, there's a shortage of action. The actions scenes are few and far between. There's also nothing particularly impressive about them. Director Sam Raimi did the same thing a decade earlier and he did it much better. In addition he made the action scenes lengthy, something that Webb still isn't capable of doing. But Webb's inexperience (or is it a lack of talent?) is evident not only in the action. It's evident in the way he directs actors. We've heard enough about Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone being a couple. But does this make a difference in the film? It makes little difference really. The featured romance is typical for a superhero film. It makes you feel little for the couple, something that becomes much too obvious during an important scene. The screenplay by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner doesn't impress. At times it's poorly written. It doesn't help the romance or the proceedings. It doesn't make the characters interesting. It's formulaic. It contains unnecessary parts. These parts are a burden on the film's running time, which is 2 hours and 22 minutes. Yet we still get two underdeveloped and unmemorable supervillains. We get to know their motivations but we don't really get to know anything else about them. This is a fault of the screenplay. Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Dane DeHaan (Green Goblin) don't provide good performances with Webb's direction. In fact, the performances and even the film itself seem cartoonish at times. Also, for a film with such a large budget ($255 million), the CGI looks surprisingly underdeveloped in some scenes. There's just a lack of style in these Spider-Man movies by Marc Webb. If it wasn't for Andrew Garfield playing Peter Parker it would have been a chore to sit through this film. It's not all bad though. Sometimes the actors manage to brighten up a scene. There are some genuinely funny audience-friendly bits. A good electronic score by Hans Zimmer & The Magnificent Six is a bit of an improvement over James Horner's orchestral score for the first film. But at a time when Marvel and Disney are releasing one solid superhero film after another this aimless Spider-Man reboot by Columbia seems primitive. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is only a minor improvement over the first film. Take my advice and don't see it in a movie theater. Don't get duped for a second time.

Movie Reviews :

Thanks to some good acting, I slept for only an hour out of the 2 hrs of this excruciatingly slow movie.

Like Amitabh was suffering from lack of bowel movement, I was suffering from insomnia the past 3 weeks. This movie cured it, go for it if you are too - you won't be disappointed. My mom was the one who wanted to see it and she said I was snoring, thank you Piku!

Leaving my problems aside, Amitabh's role is very hard to define. He says in one scene that he needs women to have a purpose and goal in life and not just serve their partners throughout their married life. The very next, he throws tantrums and makes everyone, especially his daughter, Piku played by DP, constantly pay attention to him.

Agreed that older people behave like kids but his role was too cinematic to make you love him.DP and Irrfan acted really well, so did the irritating mausi. I would say, wait till the DVD release if you wanna absolutely watch it - not worth a visit to the theater.

Movie Reviews:

I can't believe this was directed by Anurag Kashyap. The entire movie is just plain boring and nobody seem to be emoting or acting including KK Menon. Anushka Sharma is wasted in a role with sucking music and songs.

If you want to watch a movie well made portraying olden days, go watch "Detective Byomkesh Bakshi" instead - it is amazing.

Stay away from this movie if you want to save frustration and annoyance. Unless you are sleep deprived and want to catch a nap, this will give you a good nap. You will keep asking yourself, when it will be over.

One of the crappiest movies I've ever watched. Over 2 hours wasted that I can never get back. I can't believe people are rating this movie with 10 stars. Such people never watched great art movies in their lives.

Ek Paheli Leela (2015)

Sunny takes revenge on her lover's murderers.
Director:

Writers: (story), (screenplay), 1 more credit »

Storyline

It is a reincarnation story about the love between Leela and her lover, which is left incomplete because one of them has been murdered. The story comes to circle after 300 long years; when Leela has taken birth as Meera and her lover's character is also reborn.

Movie Reviews:

I had never thought I would watch Leela, let alone review it. I and my friend had gone to watch Byomekesh Bakshi. However, there happened some confusion regarding the show-timing and we reluctantly agreed to watch Leela instead. But the movie turned out to be good.

I don't like Sunny Leone's porn. In fact, I dislike that genre of porn altogether. I had thought that Leela would be yet another low- budget, B grade movie like Hate Story. However, it turned out that this movie is one of the most elegant depictions of female beauty ever done on the screen.

As the rustic woman, Sunny looks mesmerizing, she looks exquisite, she looks enticing, she looks voluptuous, she looks angelic. And it's the result of an efficient teamwork. From makeup, to costumes to cinematography, all contributed to it. And surprisingly, Sunny not just looked good, she acted pretty well too.

The cinematography stands out. It's the USP of the movie. Not just Sunny but also the desert, the lake, the palace, the village, the ancient structures, as if all become living characters!

The movie has a script and a good one, for that matter. Especially the twist in the end suddenly makes you look at the whole story from another point of view. The audience was gasping and clapping. I heard a couple of thrilled guys still discussing the climax in the parking.

Rahul Dev, Mohit Ahlawat, Jai Bhanushali, Rajneesh Duggal, Jas Arora - none of the male actors comes from the A league but they did a good job. Especially Ahlawat whose character had many shades. He had to look decent and debonair, yet manly without exuding false aggression. He managed it skillfully. His as well as Rahul Dev's diction was quite pleasant

The love-making scene between Sunny and Rajneesh Duggal was beautifully done. Contrary to Sunny's porn that is cheap and in- your-face, it looked erotic, yet classy and romantic.

Music is another good point. Even when a song, "Saiyyan superstar" was clearly stuffed in just for the sake of putting another item- song, it is entertaining.

The bad part is editing. Had editing been better, the movie could have become shorter and crispier. Ehsan Qureshi's double meaning comedy comes mostly as interruption.

On the whole, Ek Paheli Leela is a visual treat with an entertaining story-line.

Written by Marvel Studios

 Movie Reviews:

thought I would give Avengers: Age of Ultron a try, the cast didn't seem too bad so how bad can it be? This movie just has no saving grace. A terrible plot filled with a cast who seemed to be trying to act their way out of a wet paper bag. It tries its hardest to make the audience laugh with the same repeated jokes and punch lines that just aren't funny.

Bad ad-libs aside, the aesthetic of the movie is just annoying. It looks like something out of a Pixar nightmare gone wrong.

In short its a movie filled with a decent cast who just didn't seem like they knew what to do with that they were being given. VERY bad facial hair on both males and females, and even worse quips.

Movie Reviews:

I will keep this short for the sake of not spoiling anything.

Right off i should say I love Nolan. I adore most of his movies, and Interstellar is no exception. It is a marvelous piece of work whose visuals will be hard to forget. His shots of space and the way he played with colors is rather masterful. Maybe i expected it to be greater than what i saw, but even though i was moved by the movie i did not quite feel like he created something great with 'Interstellar.' This could be attributed maybe to his overuse of sentimentalism in the father-daughter relationship he creates. Nolan really tries to make you cry with this one. I have never seen him use such powerful emotions in his movies; however that is not necessarily a good thing for this movie, given that he uses his time trying to develop a family relationship at the expense of flow and congruency. Again, the Visuals are completely off the charts. The visual imagery is truly beautiful and something that Nolan has always excelled at. Given that the most visually stunning movie in recent years, Gravity, recently came out, Interstellar does not lag behind and shows you a spectacle of Visual effects. He will most likely win Visual effects at the Oscars. The Hans's score is marvelous and will most likely earn an Oscar nomination. Matthew Mcconaughey's acting is good, but nothing stellar, especially coming off the best acting role of his career. He plays the character like it should be played, but Nolan's characters never being truly drawn out or rounded does not help him any.The same can be said for the rest of the cast. The little girl was marvelous though. I do not want to reveal any piece of the story whatsoever, but i have to say, it is one of the most original scripts i've ever seen.

Ultimately this movie is entertaining. There is no way Nolan can miss that. Another great thing that Nolan excels at is INSPIRING. By the time the credits rolled and people walked out, I sat there still in awe at the strong sense of human will the movie conveys. Personally, I don't think this is Nolan's best. I believe Memento stands as his masterpiece. But with Nolan, everyone has their own favorite movie. Maybe for some, Interstellar will be their favorite movie, for it is really Nolan's most ambitious and visually-striking work.

By the way, Anyone else who even tries to compare Interstellar to "2001: A Space Odyssey" is out of their mind. Kubrick's mission was to create art. Nolan in "Interstellar" sets to awe and inspire its audiences. It is truly a great piece of work.

22 years after the original Jurassic Park failed, the new park (also known as Jurassic World) is open for business. After years of studying genetics the scientists on the park genetically engineer a new breed of dinosaur. When everything goes horribly wrong, will our heroes make it off the island?

Movie Reviews:

Scientists and corporate companies never learn do they ? Surely Universal Studios cant be so short of money that they need to resurrect a franchise that finished fifteen years ago ? That said dinosaurs have an absolute fascination to humans in general and children in particular and I used to love these dinosaur movies courtesy of Ray Harryhausen and who can forget the classic DOCTOR WHO story Invasion Of The Dinosaurs where the population of London has to get evacuated due to the sudden appearance of papier mache reptiles . In short you can't go wrong with dinosaurs if you're after mass commercial appeal . Despite the dangers of flogging a dead horse Universal are probably playing things a bit safe by bringing out another franchise film

And play it safe they do . There's not a lot of originality on display here and much of the first half plays out as you might expect it . These greedy corporate capitalists have changed the balance of nature by opening a theme park featuring animals that died out tens of millions of years ago and worse than that they've modified the dinosaurs so that not only do you think you're watching a retread of the original JURASSIC PARK movies complete with the same musical soundtrack you're also watching a reworking of The Company from the ALIEN movies . This is also reflected in the rather one note , thin characters who populate the story

Movie Reviews:

I had many expectations from this film, 'Roy'. But it proved to be an extremely senseless, illogical, third class, and a boring film.

There is lack of comedy, suspense, thrill and a proper script & story which was expected to take a good grip. The entire film is filled with useless and non-sense dialogues. All audience in the hall were wondering like when something will 'happen' in this movie. The part before interval contained only dialogues n dialogues....though some of the songs were nice.

You better avoid this film at any costs. If you want to watch this movie, watch it only and only if you can't get good sleep at home, or your air conditioner is damaged! You may give it a try if you want but at your own risk!

Gabbar is Back (2015)

 128 min  |  Action, Crime, Drama  |  1 May 2015 (India)
Director:Writers: (story), (additional screenplay), 1 more credit »Stars:, , | »

Storyline

Gabbar Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar) creates his own vigilante military network called the Anti-Corruption Force (ACF) that eliminates the most corrupt individuals, from all walks of life, in a systematic manner. As pressure builds on Police and Government to track down the man who masterminds these killings, Balbir Singh (Sonu Sood) is specially summoned to head the task. He is aided by Suryam (Prakash Raj) who, though being just a constable in the mammoth Police force, is compelled by his instincts to see through the underlying design. Written by Anonymous

Movie Reviews:

What sets "Gabbar is Back" apart in the genre is its unabashedly massy tone. Here is a film about a man who decides to take charge of a social order on the brink of anarchy when all the formal faculties fail. He doesn't believe in reprimanding the corrupt. He believes in punishing them with death. Yup, this Gabbar means business. And to the character's good fortune, he is played by the very watchable Akshay Kumar. For my money and time, Akshay is by far the most complete star-actor package among contemporary A-lister heroes in Bollywood. With due respect, none of the other A-lister superstars of Bollywood have the power to sway the masses with idealistic rhetoric. It's in his eyes. Akshay makes you sit up and listen without raising his voice. Shruti Haasan, who plays a lawyer, doesn't have much to contribute. She pouts perfectly and has an unhealthy dependence on Google search. Her introductory scene in which she swoops in to deliver a baby in the backseat of Gabbar's car based on her internet research (long story… has no particular relevance to the film) is roll-your-eyes funny. Kareena Kapoor Khan in her role as Gabbar's first love isn't a knock-out portrayal, but the good news is that she just had a song cameo and was freed from mouthing any corny lines. Despite everything, the film survives to tell-a-tale that is relevant today. 'Gabbar Is Back' knocks the bottom off the action genre with a breathless ode to Swachh Bharat. P.S. I saw this film randomly the other day while at a friend's house. She comes from Indian decent and had always nagged me to watch Indian films with her but I always declined. Being a general film fanatic, I agreed to watch this film, not expecting much. But as soon as I got into the story (and got over the horrible and sometimes non-visible subtitles) I was completely hooked! Whether it was the directing or the wonderful screen presence of the actors, somethng about this film had the ability to capture the emotions of the viewer. I can say that having been used to watching generally American films, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a romance that stands out from the typical Hollywood love story -- paying attention to detail and character development in a way in which I've rarely seen before. Although I was quite new to Indian "musical numbers" in which they incorporate within their films and even found the performances in them a little bit on the cheesy side, I throroughly enjoyed some of the songs as well. Great melodies, especially the title song -- which added to the emotional impact of the movie itself. I wll definitely be looking out for more Indian films in the future.

Movie Reviews:

I'm not a big fans of Hindi Movies, so when this movie come to theater near me, I was'nt interested in watching it. But, soon it become a big hit. People are talking about it. Then I wonder, what is the commotion about ? The next thing I did was come to the theater and watched it (It had played for five months and what else reason I should use ?) , and.................... I fall in love with this one. I don't know how many times I have watch it, but it never fail to entertain me.
It's a beautiful journey through love even it's nothing but just a love tale or a love fantasy or a love dream for some of us, but, it's a superb thing for me. The plot is not so original. It took from others famous movies but mixed nicely by Karan Johar and played by wonderful cast such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. The most important thing from this movie is that this movies is remains us to always reach for our true love, and keep struggling for it.
I know it's not "suitable" for a serious audience, but I promise this movie is not that bad. Just rent it and enjoy this classic tale, and believe me, once is not enough !

Rahul loses his fans and fame due to alcoholism. But he then decides to turn a small time singer into a rising star.

Storyline

Rahul is a singer, who loses his career due to his drinking habits. He meets Arohi in a bar in Goa, where she works to earn a living. Impressed by her singing, he promises her to take her to Mumbai and make her a star, where they fall in love with each other. Aashiqui 2 is a musical love story of these lovers who goes through love and hate, fame and failure in their lives. However will they stay together accepting their success, or will they breakup due to their ego? Written by Manisha Krishna

Movie Reviews:

While people will surely draw similarities between Aashiqui-2 and Abhimaan as the theme may be similar but the treatment is contrast. Here, the story revolves around how obsession pulls you down and importantly there are no ego clashes but a lot of love for each other that eventually gives strength to both for taking their final decisions.

In comparison to its contemporary Aashiqui, this one wins the race in all but the music department. I guess Aashiqui-1's music can't be challenged till date and it will remain a milestone forever. Having said that, music of Aashiqui-2 is no less than brilliant, I was humming the songs when I came out despite hearing them very first time so surely they are intoxicating.

Story as many would be telling is similar to Abhimaan, a super star musician RJ is rapidly declining from his stardom but he doesn't care of it much. Amidst of this fall to disgrace, he comes across Arohi, a subtle middle class "Dream to catch Moon" girl. He is blown away with her vocals and gives her a dream of making big in music. He in the entire journey to her stardom stands next to her protecting and promoting her being immensely in love with her not caring his personal status. As they say, fame comes with fate. In this case Arohi's rise to top brings happiness to the couple but society brands RJ as a fallen tree who is taking solace in the rise of Arohi. Arohi on the other hand holds together RJ not to fall completely apart, sadly unsuccessfully. The stigma of being the one who is pulling Arohi down from her rise, RJ part his way from her leaving her to become what he always dreamt for her.

From the cast point of view, both protagonists fit their roles to the best. Shraddha Kapoor as a middle class girl looks every bit of it, she looks ravishingly refreshing, not with lot of makeup her natural beauty does the charm all the way. Acting wise, I thought she could have done a better job but she was convincing in her role. My pick of the movie is definitely Aditya Kapoor. He has done few roles before this movie but nothing special to mention, this movie would make him a star he should be. His role of a drinking problem ridden vocalist has been revelation. The only thing which I thought was missing was a die for chemistry between both the leads. Mohit Suri needs pat on back for handling the story so well; this movie is surely director's baby. Final acknowledgement to the singers of this movie, Aashiqui-1 made T-Series what it is today, similarly these new singers have made their mark by giving vocals in Aashiqui-2, I hope they will succeed the same way.

8/10 for the good show.
